Need For Speed Heat launch trailer hits the road by games news
It’s very easy to forget but there’s a new Need For Speed game coming out in just over a week’s time. Hype’s understandably low because, to put it bluntly, the last few Need For Speed games haven’t exactly set the world alight. Still, that’s got to change eventually, right? Need For Speed Heat takes us to the sunny climes of Palm City, a fictionalized version of Miami, where all sorts of street racing hi-jinks are taking place, both legally and illegally.
There are two currencies at play in NFS Heat, you see. By day, officially sanctioned races will earn you Bank for competing and, hopefully, winning. I don’t know what kind of city turns into a racecourse every day but it certainly sounds like a true living hell, particularly for geriatrics. And then, by night, the underground races happen. These are illicit events from which Rep can be earned.
Bank and Rep, simple. We’d imagine each of these currencies will allow you to expand your garage of cars in different directions. Earn a lot of Rep from street races, for example, and you’ll probably be able to earn one of those really naff cars like you get in NFS Underground.
Electronic Arts and Ghost Games are touting more than 120 cars in total, including the digital debut of Polestar 1, the hybrid-electric performance car.
Need For Speed Heat comes to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 8th. Be sure to check out NFS Heat’s PC system specs before then to ensure your rig’s not going to be left for dust.
