Twitch streamer confused by starter Pokemon's bizarre evolution
Anyone who has ever played a Pokemon game knows the feeling of excitement when a Pokemon is in the process of evolving. Unfortunately for Twitch streamer Mysticlxl, his Sword & Shield starter’s evolution left him with a feeling of dread.
On November 14, Pokemon trainer Mysticlxl was partaking in a 24 hour broadcast with the release of the latest games in the series, Sword and Shield and started off with the grass type Grookey.
After his Grookey, which was nicknamed Azuma, reached level 16, it started evolving, causing the streamer to freak out in excitement.
“I don’t know if I’m ready boys,” the 19-year-old Canadian said. “I don’t know if I’m ready.”
While he could have canceled his Pokemon’s evolution, the entertainer proceeded to let his starter evolve. After coming to terms with his Grookey’s life choices, the streamer watched as the transformation began
Mysticlxl watched patiently with bated breath and his hands over his mouth as Grookey evolved into Thwackey. An evolution that caught the streamer off-guard.
Without warning, the Canadian took his glasses and headset off before turning around in his chair in disbelief, unable to comprehend what he witnessed. His adorable monkey-like Pokemon had become a dual stick-wielding tribunal creature.
“What in the f*ck is that?!” he exclaimed. “What in the f*ck, that’s Thwackey? What’s with Game Freak and Ws? They put them in the most random places. Why is his name Thwackey? Bro…
The disappointed streamer just looked on for a good dozen seconds in shock before finally exiting the evolution screen to read about the Pokemon his starter just became, but had a sad frown bestowed upon his face the entire time.
Pokemon evolutions are normally a time of wonder and intrigue, which makes an underwhelming upgrade so much more disheartening. Hopefully, the streamer finds joy in Thwackey’s next evolution. That is if he doesn’t release it into the wild.
