Mafia Remake Gameplay And Details Revealed
During the PC Gaming Show, we got more details on the upcoming remake of the original Mafia, the open-world action game that first came out in 2002. Mafia: Definitive Edition is built from the ground up with new assets, gameplay mechanics, cinematic shots, and cutscene dialogue. The game will follow the exact story beats as the original game.
The open-world city of Lost Heaven is modeled after Chicago in the 1930s, and Definitive Edition features a completely rebuilt version of the setting. You'll notice things such as widened streets, smoother street layouts (reducing the number of sharp 90-degree turns). Since you do a lot of driving in Mafia, car handling and road grip have been revamped and reacts to weather conditions.
A new story trailer featuring in-game cutscenes and gameplay was also revealed; you can watch the trailer below.
In the original Mafia, and in Definitive Edition, you play as Tommy Angelo who starts as a humble cab driver and eventually works his way through the Italian criminal underworld in the US. He becomes a key member of the Salieri family, and his journey is full of drama and plot twists.
Mafia: Definitive Edition launches on August 28 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It's part of the Mafia Trilogy, and you can pick up the remasters of both Mafia II and Mafia III now.
